Through the tender mercy of our God, with which the Dayspring from on high has visited us; to give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

-Luke 1:78-79

Our Story

On October 1, 2017, after preaching four services for the weekend at Watersprings Church in Idaho Falls, I drove to Boise to spend Sunday night and Monday with my daughter Jessica and my son-in-law Christian. I woke up that Monday morning and told Jessica and Christian that I was going to go for a walk, get a cup of coffee, and pray about some things because I had a board meeting on Friday, October 6, where I was going to share the vision of developing our 28-acre campus and launch some new ministries.

I got my cup of coffee on 13th Street in downtown Boise and got about a block away from the coffee shop. I asked the Lord for wisdom about the meeting and how to lay out the agenda for my board of elders. And the Lord broke into my thoughts and said, "You've crossed your finish line; you've finished your race at Watersprings. I have some other things for you to do, and then you will come back here to the Boise Valley and serve me."

I thought “some things” might take a few months, maybe six months at the most, and I would be starting a ministry in the Boise area very quickly. But to my surprise, those six months turned into six years of waiting for the Lord to give me the green light that finally came in August of 2023 when the Lord said it was now time to go.

During that time, I began thinking about the name, Dayspring church. So, for six years this Dayspring ministry has been in my heart and in my mind. I’ve just been patiently waiting at the red stop light of God’s divine timing for the light to turn green...now it has!

In some strange way it’s like God has been preparing us for this very moment...this Dayspring Moment.

Blessings,

Statement of Faith

Triune Godhead.

We believe there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory—that this triune God created all, upholds all, and governs all.

Scriptural Authority.

We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God, fully inspired without error in the original manuscripts and are the infallible rule of faith and practice. The Word of God is the foundation upon which this church operates and the basis for which this church is governed. We believe the Word of God supersedes any earthly law that is contrary to the Holy Scriptures.

Divine Fatherhood.

We believe in the person of God the Father, an infinite personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love; that he concerns himself mercifully in the affairs of people; that he hears and answers prayers; and that he saves all those who come to him through Jesus Christ from sin and death.

Christ's Ministry.

We believe in the person of Jesus Christ, God's only begotten son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in his virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings, his substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for his people, and personal visible return to earth.

Spiritual Gifts.

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and in the exercise of all biblical gifts of the Spirit.

Sacred Ordinances.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ gave two ordinances to the church: 1) baptism, and 2) the Lord's Supper.

Apostolic Beliefs.

We believe in what is termed "The Apostles’ Creed" as embodying fundamental facts of Christian faith.

Spirit's Work.

We believe in the person of the Holy Spirit, who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower for ministry all who believe in Christ.

Sin and Salvation.

We believe that all people are sinners by nature and, therefore, are under condemnation; that God regenerates, based upon faith in the Holy Spirit, those who repent of their sins and confess Jesus Christ as Lord.

Christ's Return.

We believe in the second coming of Jesus Christ which is his personal, visible return to earth and the establishment of his millennial kingdom, in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, and eternal blessing of the righteous and endless suffering of the wicked.

Spirit Within.

We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ and is an abiding helper, teacher, and guide.

Church Unity.

We believe in the universal church, the living spiritual body of which Christ is the head, and all who are born again are members.

Ordination Practice.

We believe also in the laying on of hands for the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the ordination of pastors, elders, and deacons, and for the receiving gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Baptismal Rite.

We believe in water baptism by full immersion and communion open to all those in Christ.

Our Culture

Time for Others

The church is more than a service—it's the people. We prioritize creating space for genuine connections, moving past a "drive-through church" mentality to build lasting relationships.

Flourishing Families

God's design for families is our blueprint. We are cultivating households where husbands love, wives respect, and children are raised in the ways of the Lord.

Faith and Freedom

We recognize that all group decisions inherently involve politics. Instead of disengaging, we press in and encourage the stewarding of families, communities, and nations according to God's revealed wisdom.
